Getting to Really Know Jesus

Intro:

We will break down the relation of Christ to His Church.
 
I. Pig analogy – Marty and  Patty (two pigs I raised)

  1. My superiority to them was less than Christ’s superiority to me.

    • Pigs never sinned against me
      Romans 3:23

    • Pigs appreciated my providing for them
      Luke 17:11-19

  2. I had less right to condemn them than Jesus has to condemn me
    Isaiah 59:1-2

  3. I loved my pigs but I wouldn’t have died for them
    Romans 5:6-8
    But the sacrifice of Jesus on my behalf was a greater act of grace than had I died in the place of those Pigs.
II. My salvation through Jesus’ sacrifice was planned

  1. God rested until man sinned
    Genesis 2:1-3
  2. When man sinned, God began His plan
    Eph. 1:3-12
  3. Jesus thought about his fate for 4000 years yet He still came
    Gal. 4:1-5
  4. He lived and suffered among men and still willingly died
    Matt. 26:51-53
III. Jesus suffered what I will never understand

  1. Jesus paid my bill in full – all of it
    I Peter 3:18

    What ALL mankind could not pay in all eternity, Jesus paid in a few short hours.
    (Family, friends, Moses – could not pay the debt)

  2. I cannot understand because
    1. If I am lost, I will never understand the majesty He left on my behalf
      (He had been with God for all eternity)

    2. If I am saved, I will enjoy the majesty with Jesus
      (Joint heirs – Romans 8-17)
      but never understand the terrible loss He suffered in my place.
Conclusion:  Gal. 4:4-5
